Born in Mazatlán, Vargas began his professional sportfishing career at a young age with Starfleet Charters. He also currently serves as Vice President of the Baja California Sur State Sport Fishing Association, underscoring his ongoing dedication to the development of sportfishing in Mexico.
The World Championship Big Game Fishing is a prestigious international sportfishing competition, gathering the world’s best anglers for a week of elite-level competition. Captain Vargas's selection to compete among them reflects not only his exceptional talent but also his unwavering passion for the sport.
Reflecting on this honor, Vargas said:
“It’s a dream come true to represent my country on the world stage. Fishing has been my life since I was a kid, and to now carry the Mexican flag at the World Championship means everything to me, my family, and our team at Top Anglers. I’ll give it my all.”
